Its Great To Be Eight

Happy Happy Birthday Sam! Sam has been so excited for his birthday and baptism this year. He came running in this morning, gave me a great big hug, reminded me it was his birthday, and shouted "Mom, I've been waiting to be 8 my entire life!" We love Sam!

Crunch!

As we were leaving the zoo last Friday we were stopped at a stop sign in the parking lot. The next thing we knew, crunch! We quickly pulled over to the side of the road and checked the kids to make sure everyone was o.k. I then got out of the car and found this:
We exchanged information with the other driver and went on our way. On the way back to our hotel I kept trying to call our insurance agent but my phone would not complete the call. The previous night Ronny had found the new cell phones he wanted to upgrade to were on sale and he could get them free. He jumped on the sale not realizing that when it was completed it would essentially terminate our cell coverage with our previous provider. Result, no phone. Ronny instead shot an email out to our agent that night to report the accident. I guess if you are going to be in an accident this is the kind you want but it sure put a damper on our "Get Away" weekend. Now I get to have the hassle of dealing with their insurance agent trying to get our car fixed. Not really what I wanted to do this week!

San Diego Zoo

Our next adventure was the zoo. I told the kids and Ronny they really hadn't been to a good zoo until they have been here. I told Ronny it was so big they had a bus tour and a skicab ride. They were impressed.

All day long the kids would say, "Can you take a picture of me doing "this"?" They really enjoyed the tours and the animals. The animals were unusually active due to the overcast skies from what the staff kept telling us. We didn't see the tigers but every time we go to the zoo here in UT they are extremely active so the kids were not too disappointed.

Sea World

Sea World was great. It was hard to decide who was more excited, Ronny or the kids. When Ronny saw the killer whales the first time his eyes bugged out and he couldn't get over how big they were.

Watching the kids and Ronny feed the dolphins wast he highlight of the day for me. They were all in heaven and continue to talk about it even now!
Check out Ben's face above, priceless!

Can you feel Ronny's excitement here?

All day long I would count heads as we moved from one place to another. Each time I would frantically look around knowing I was missing someone. Every time I would have to tell myself 4 kids was all I was looking for. Will that feeling ever go away? I hope not.

Dragon Award and Field Trips

Joseph received the Dragon Award for Leadership this month. Way to go Joseph. The short assembly to honor the kids was held before school. YIKES! (Not really my best time as I'm trying to get 4 kids and a husband out the door to their various destinations.) They served donuts and juice so the kids were thrilled!Directly following the assembly, Ben's class went on a field trip to the pumpkin patch. As I am not traveling to the hospital anymore I signed up to be a chaperone. I was a little nervous at first as a few people came up to me and asked if I was the mom who just had a baby die. Wasn't exactly ready for that but it all worked out. We had lots of fun and I met some fun moms who have kids in my other kids classes. We'll have to look into that for some play time!As soon as we got back from the field trip I raced home to get started on the laundry as we were scheduled to leave for San Diego that next morning.
