Last year Ronny won his division in the South Jordan Marathon which gave him free entry into this year's race. He wasn't sure if he was going to run after Aaron's passing. He decided just a couple days ago he would run and just see how things went. I can count on one hand how many times Ronny has gone for a run in the last year. Needless to say, he was running this marathon cold.Like last year, the kids and I loaded up and cheered him on. We once again leap frogged him starting at mile 15 (which by the way was right by our house!) and cheered him all the way to the finish line.Ronny finished in about 4 hours and 45 minutes. Considering neither one of us thought he would be able to finish at all, I would say that was a pretty good time.He definitely earned himself a good adjustment and massage. Good thing Dr. Luce was there to help out with that! Jake is a very good friend of ours and has been one of the sponsors for this race from the beginning. Too bad I didn't have video of this. Ronny was hollering out loud, it was pretty funny.Ronny turned 37 just two weeks ago. When he told me he was going to run the race I reminded him he wasn't as "young" as he used to be and to be very careful. He keeps telling me he's "old", I tell him he's not old, but he certainly isn't "young" anymore, welcome to middle aged! I am concerned about how Ronny will feel tonight and in the days to come, especially with our upcoming trip. In the end though, I'm really proud of him for wanting to do this. Life for us has been anything but routine this last year and we are still coming to terms with how our lives have changed. Many tell us we are acting "normal", we certainly don't feel "normal" like we did a year ago. We are learning what our new "normal" is I guess. Life continues to roll on and we are finding our path just like everyone else. We certainly look at life differently and feel a peace that all is well and we are earnestly searching out moments of joy. Way to go Ronny!
